Islamabad | 20 October (PTI) : During the first visit of interim Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, Pakistan and China signed 20 agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to strengthen cooperation under the Beijing-backed Belt and Road Initiative, a joint statement released on Friday said.
From October 16 to October 20, Kakar traveled to China at the request of Chinese President Xi Jinping to attend the Third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. Kakar had meetings with Premier Li Qiang, President Xi, and other government officials when he was in China.
The two parties acknowledged that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a trailblazing initiative of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), has shown positive results in the ten years since it was launched and is currently in a new phase of excellent development.
